18.The Night Journey.

On one very special night, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was taken by Angel Gabriel from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. From there he ascended into the heavens. During this journey he saw many great signs of Allah and met many great Prophets, including Adam, Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist and Jesus the Messiah .

During this night, Allah made fifty prayers each day, compulsory on the Muslims. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked Allah to reduce the number of prayers until He reduced it to five prayers each day. Out of the mercy of Allah, He declared that whoever performs their five prayers daily with sincerity, He would give them the reward of fifty prayers.

The next morning, the Prophet (peace be upon him) told the Quraish what had happened. As expected, they didn’t believe him. To further convince them the Prophet (peace be upon him); gave them a detail description of Jerusalem, a city he had never visited before. He even gave information of the caravans that he had seen on the way back to Makkah. Yet all of these evidences were not enough for the disbelieving Quraish.
