Generosity is one of the noblest human features and is one of the most beautiful human characters, as human`s nature is avarice and miserliness. "Say (to the disbelievers): ‘If you possessed the treasure of the Mercy of my Lord (wealth, money, provision), then you would surely hold back (from spending) for fear of (being exhausted), and man is ever miserly!’" Chapter of Al[1]-Israa, verse: 100. So, the generosity did hold a great value among the Arab and they did like and praise the generous person. The generosity is defined as the human`s giving for money, food, etc for the needy, doing hospitality for them and welcoming the guest. Its antonym is avarice and greed; which was the worst characteristic among Arabs. The Prophet Muhammad (blessing and peace be upon him) is the most generous person:Although the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) lived in a community, praises and admires with the generosity and the generous people, he was the most generously, everyone who was a contemporary of the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) bored witness that the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) is the most generous. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: "The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) was the most generous of the people and he used to be more so in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel visited him. Gabriel would meet with him every night of Ramadan until the end of the month. The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) would recite the Holy Qur’an to Gabriel. When Gabriel met him, he would be more generous than a swift wind (bringing rain).”1The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) never turns down anybody`s request:Sahl Ibn Sa’d narrated: "A woman brought a woven Burda (sheet) having edging (border) to the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him). Then Sahl asked them whether they knew what is Burda, they said that Burda is a cloak and Sahl confirmed their reply. Then the woman said: ‘I have woven it with my own hands and I have brought it so that you may wear it.’ The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) accepted it, and at that time he was in need of it. So he came out wearing it as his waist sheet. A man praised it and said: ‘Will you give it to me? How nice it is!’ The other people said. ‘You have not done the right thing as the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) is in need of it and you have asked for it when you know that he never turns down anybody's request.’ The man replied: ‘By Allah, I have not asked for it to wear it but to make it my shroud.’ Later it was his shroud." [2]Generosity is a good and praiseworthy moral, whatever the case of the generously person is; if he was a rich man it would be easier for him to give money for the cause of Allah without missing anything, but if he was a poor man, gives what he wants, it would be the peak of the generosity. The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) was not a rich person and his generosity was not as a result of his possessing much money but he gave what he needed. The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) who was a generously person did not wait for reciprocating "favor" and people`s good treatment, but he was a generous bountiful person, despite of his suffering from Arabs` ignorance.Mohamed Ibn Jarir narrated: “Jubair ibn Mut`im told me that while he was in the company of Allah's Apostle with the people returning from Hunain, some people (Bedouins) caught hold of the Prophet and started begging of him so much so that he had to stand under a (kind of thorny tree (i.e. Samurah) and his cloak was snatched away. The Prophet stopped and said: ‘Give me my cloak. If I had as many camels as these thorny trees, I would have distributed them amongst you and you will not find me a miser or a liar or a coward.’” [3]The Prophet`s (blessing and peace be upon him) generosity was for all people:The Prophet`s (blessing and peace be upon him) generosity was not limited to his close friends nor those who were expected to reciprocate the favor, rather,  his generosity was also for others to the extent that his enemies bore witness for him in this concern. When the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) came to Mecca, he forgave all people despite of their harming, except six people who did great harms against him and Muslims. Those people who were his enemies would have been unfair with him, especially after shedding their blood, among whom was ‘Ikrima ibn  Abu Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him). . When the Messenger of Allah conquered Mecca, he (Ikrimah) ran away, fleeing from him. When he was on the sea, headed for Ethiopia, the ship started to rock and the crew said: "O people, pray sincerely to your Lord alone, for no one can save us from this except Him.'' Ikrimah said: "By Allah, if there is none who can save us on the sea except Him, then there is none who can save us on land except Him either, O Allah, I vow to You that if I come out of this, I will go and put my hand in the hand of Muhammad and I will find him kind and merciful.'' And this is what indeed did happen.[4]This Ikrimah`s testimony, while still enemy, is a sign of that the Prophet`s (blessing and peace be upon him) generosity, as in that he (blessing and peace be upon him) became well-known, and it became a feature and slogan acknowledged by anyone even though he was a non-Muslim.  Anas Ibn Malik narrated that a man from the tribe of Bani Kelab came to the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) and asked about payment for the animal’s sperm to inseminate the female, he prohibited the selling of unfertilized eggs of camels and said: “We are more generous than accepting this payment.” [5]The Prophet`s (blessing and peace be upon him) recommendation to have the characteristic of generosity:The Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) was not only characterized by the generosity but also called his companions to be like that, he affirmed this meaning and told that it was a reason for Allah`s love. Sahl Ibn Sa’d narrated that Allah’s Messenger (blessing and peace be upon him) said: "Allah is the Most Generous; He loves the generosity, He loves the high morals, and He hates the low morals". [6] The Prophet combined the generosity with belief in Allah and belief in the Last Day because of its value that it's not only a good manner or a praiseworthy moral.   Abi Shuriah Al-Adawi narrated: “My ears heard and my eyes saw the Prophet when he spoke: ‘Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should serve his neighbor generously, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should serve his guest by giving him his reward.’" It was asked. "What it`s his reward, O Allah`s Messenger?" He said, (to be entertained generously ) for a day and a night with high quality of food and the guest have the right to be entertained for three days (with ordinary food) if he stays longer, what he will be provided with will be regarded as sadaka (a charity   gift ). And anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quite (i.e. abstain from all kinds of dirty and evil talks).[7]Generosity is like other good attributes and morals that the human may be characterized by it to be praised by people so the Prophet (blessing and peace be upon him) advises his companions that it's important to characterize by the generosity for the sake of Allah no people, as the generosity is a worship that the human is rewarded if he made his intention to Allah.   1 Agreed upon, reported by Al-Bukhari (6) and Muslim (2308).[2] Reported by Al-Bukhari,, (6036).[3] Reported by Al-Bukhari, (2821).[4] Reported by An-Nasa’I (4672) and Al-Albani graded it as sound.  [5] Reported by Al-Hakim (1/48) and Al-Albani graded it as sound.   [6] Agreed upon, reported by Al-Bukhari (6019) and Muslim (84). .
